Luba Lukova's Designing Justice traveling exhibition continues its tour with an opening at Museum of the City of Riobamba in Ecuador. Located in the Andes at an elevation of 9,000 ft, Riobamba is Ecuador's oldest city and capital of the Chimborazo Province.
Diseño de Justicia, a collection of fifty-five prints and posters by Luba Lukova, on view in June 2018 in three galleries at the city's premier cultural institution, has become the museum's most visited exhibition to date.
Lukova's exhibition is the main event at the first edition of Gestalt, International Design Congress held in Riobamba. The artist will present a lecture and workshop at the Congress, June 19 – 22.
Luba Lukova creates indelible images that transcend language, cultures, and politics. Her thought-provoking works address essential themes of humanity and injustice worldwide. Her messages help viewers develop empathetic understanding for social and cultural issues through visual metaphors and an economy of line, color, and text.
A moving celebration of the summer solstice and Pachamama, Mother Earth was held at the Museum of the City of Riobamba during Lukova's exhibition. The ritual was led by Andean poet and healer Zadir Milla Euribe and Ecuadorian textile artist Monica Malo Piedra.
